Five-star defensive lineman Bryan Bresee, the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2020, committed to Clemson on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect from Damascus, Md., chose the defending national champions over Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan and Oklahoma.

The verbal commitment from Bresee vaults the Tigers over the Crimson Tide for the No. 1 overall 2020 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite.

Bresee is coach Dabo Swinney’s 12th commitment in the class and the seventh ranked inside the 247Sports’ top 100.

“[Coach Swinney] always prides himself on developing the classes and has said he’s never had a No. 1 class,” Bresee said. “He was joking around, saying, ‘You guys are going to ruin all my pride with this one.'”

“This class could be by far one of the best classes ever,” Bresee added. “I think definitely one of the best classes for Clemson.”
