PLAYERS TO WATCH

–QB Daniel Jones posted a rather mundane 151 yards of total offense in rainy conditions at Miami. He also punted for the first two times this season, with both boots downed inside the 10-yard line.

–RB Deon Jackson, who was coming off a game with a school-record 403 all-purpose yards at Pittsburgh, rattled off a 75-yard touchdown run on Duke’s first snap at Miami. Duke hadn’t scored on its first snap of a game since 2004 against The Citadel.

–S Jeremy McDuffie has worked his way back into regular playing time in an injury-hindered season. He made six tackles in the Miami game after entering the game with only four stops this season.

–LB Ben Humphreys recovered two fumbles in the Miami game after sitting out the previous week with an injury. He has at least one tackle for loss in the last five games in which he has played.

SERIES HISTORY: North Carolina leads Duke 60-39-4, but the Blue Devils have won the past two meetings, including 27-17 last season.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “North Carolina can score on anybody. They have just hit over the last two years a rash of injuries and circumstances.” — Coach David Cutcliffe, on this week’s opponent.
