GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Florida State’s defense against Miami quarterback N’Kosi Perry. Well, the Seminoles definitely have their hands full with Perry, a redshirt freshman who has proven to be one heck of coaching-decision-gone-right by head coach Mark Richt. Perry was given the starting nod two weeks ago, taking the job away from fifth-year senior and two-year starter Malik Rosier. On the season, Perry is now 35 of 51 for 442 yards, with seven passing touchdowns. Not bad for a guy who didn’t play in the season opener (suspended; rules violation).

DRAFT SLANT:

–Florida State’s highest-rated current player is 6-foot-5 defensive end Brian Burns, who renowned NFL scout Dane Brugler considers a potential first-rounder in the 2019 NFL Draft. Brugler, whose mock draft predicts Burns could wind up with the Pittsburgh Steelers near the end of the first round, said of the lanky pass rusher: “The Florida State tape shows a streaky player, but Burns has first-round potential and length off the edge.” Burns currently leads Florida State in sacks on the season with five sacks and 6 1/2 tackles for loss.

ROSTER REPORT:

–Florida State’s starting OL got a little clearer this week after the line didn’t give up a single sack last week against Louisville. Landon Dickerson is now the starting left tackle and Brady Scott is now the starting right tackle. Arthur Williams is also listed as a starter at left guard after Cole Minshew started at left guard last week. But Cole Minshew and Mike Arnold, who got the nod at right guard, are now both listed as starter 1A and 1B at right guard (meaning either could start Saturday).

–OL Derrick Kelly, a former starter, is still recovering from a leg injury he suffered late in the game against Syracuse. There is no timetable for his return.
