PLAYERS TO WATCH

–QB Ryan Finley ranks 10th nationally (based on average) through two games with 679 total passing yards. He has averaged 30 completions per game. He has more experienced receivers for the most part this season and that could increase his effectiveness.

–DB Tanner Ingle shared the team lead with seven tackles in the Georgia State game. The freshman will be tested in different ways by Marshall’s versatile offense.

–RB Reggie Gallaspy Jr. has scored in each of the first two games of the season. He’s the only returning player who has scored this season for the Wolfpack. He had more than one-third of the Wolfpack’s carries.

–WR C.J. Riley has one touchdown this season. His role could become more vital in the Marshall game if WR Jakobi Meyers doesn’t return to full speed. Meyers might not have played against West Virginia, but he’s cleared for the Marshall game.

SERIES HISTORY: N.C. State leads 4-0 against Marshall, including a 37-20 home victory last September.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “I do hope that we can get a 12th game. I’m not sure where that’s going yet.” — coach Dave Doeren on the team’s quest to fill out its schedule after the home game with West Virginia was canceled because of concerns related to Hurricane Florence.
