ESPN networks will televise nearly three dozen bowl games to end the 2019 college football season.

Beginning Dec. 20 with the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl and Frisco Bowl and culminating in the grand finale on Jan. 13 with the national championship game, bowl season is getting a later start.

The 2019 college football season runs 15 weeks instead of the standard 14. More bowls than usual will be played after New Year’s Day.

The semifinal games of the College Football Playoff will be played Dec. 28 in the Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl, giving teams more than two weeks to prepare for the title game at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

ESPN will air five games between the semifinals and the NCAA championship game: Birmingham Bowl and Gator Bowl (Jan. 2); Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Jan. 3); Armed Forces Bowl (Jan. 4); and Mobile Alabama Bowl (Jan. 6).
