New Kansas head coach Les Miles has lured Auburn’s offensive coordinator to Lawrence, Kansas.

Kansas announced Tuesday that Chip Lindsey, who has been Auburn’s offensive coordinator the past two seasons, has joined the Jayhawks staff as Kansas’ offensive coordinator.

“It is a great day when you can add a coach like Chip Lindsey to your staff,” said Miles in a statement. “He has a proven track record of putting exciting, electric offenses on the field and he also has built a strong reputation of developing his players. With the returning players we have on offense and the pieces that we are putting together now in recruiting, we have the potential to be much improved.”

Lindsey was in his second stint with Auburn, after being an offensive analyst with the Tigers in 2013. He also has been the offensive coordinator at Arizona State in 2016 and served in the same role at Southern Miss in 2014 and 2015.

The Tigers are currently tied for 72nd in country in scoring offense this season, averaging 28.3 points per game.

In 2017, Auburn was 27th in scoring, averaging 33.9 points per game.

After beating Washington and Alabama State in their first two games this season, Auburn was ranked No. 7 in the country. But the Tigers finished the season 7-5, including 3-5 in the Southeastern Conference.

Kansas went 3-9 this season, including 1-8 in the Big 12.
