PLAYERS TO WATCH

–QB Charlie Brewer passed for an efficient 221 yards and three TDs. He also rushed for 57 yards and took the reins of the quarterback position in leading the Bears to a victory in their Big 12 opener. The most encouraging thing for Baylor fans going forward is that Brewer made big plays, throwing TD passes of 22, 39 and 34 yards.

–DE James Lynch has emerged as a difference-maker up front for the Baylor defense. He posted his third sack of the season when he dropped KU quarterback Peyton Bender for a nine-yard loss.

–S Verkedric Vaughns led Baylor with seven tackles, including a tackle for a three-yard loss early in the win over Kansas. Vaughns, along with linebacker Clay Johnston and Lynch give Baylor some solid players to build around on defense.

–WR Tyquan Thornton has earned a big chunk of playing time and he’s making the most of it. He made three catches for 50 yards, leading the Bears in yards-per-reception in the Big 12-opening win.

SERIES HISTORY: Oklahoma leads Baylor, 24-3. All of Baylor’s wins in the series have come since 2011, but the Sooners have won the last three in a row.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “We’ve been running a little bit of triple-option here and there. We ran a couple last week. But, I don’t think (Oklahoma) is going to be too worried about that from us after seeing it last week with Army.” — Baylor coach Matt Rhule on this possibility of following Army’s game plan against Oklahoma.
