Bob Stoops may not be coaching Oklahoma anymore, but he will have a family connection to the team’s roster next season.

Stoops’ son, Drake, announced in a Twitter post that he is committing to the program as a preferred walk-on, which gives him a spot on the team’s roster but not a scholarship.

In his Twitter post from Friday morning, Stoops wrote: “I’ve decided to stay home and go to school and play football at the University of Oklahoma.”

Stoops was ranked as a three-star wide receiver at Norman North High School, where he recorded 15 touchdowns, 67 catches and 1,093 yards. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wideout choose Oklahoma over scholarship offers from Iowa, Memphis and Ohio.

Stoops’ father, Bob, retired from the school in June after compiling a 190-48 record in 18 seasons with the school. His brother, Mike Stoops, is the defensive coordinator at the school.
