GAME BREAKDOWN
KEY MATCHUP: Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray vs. Kansas coach David Beaty. There isn’t many intriguing matchups in this one, but Murray playing what is probably his final collegiate home game against the coach that recruited him to Texas A&M is one big storyline. Beaty was the Aggies’ receivers coach and recruiting coordinator when Murray committed to Texas A&M. Beaty has already been told he will not be retained after this season.
DRAFT SLANT
–OG Ben Powers’ draft stock has risen with his recent performance. Powers has proven himself both as a run and pass blocker, but it’s pass blocking where Powers has shined recently. Oklahoma has plenty of offensive linemen who will get a chance at the next level, and Powers has inserted himself into that group lately.
ROSTER REPORT:
–RB T.J. Pledger missed the Sooners’ win over Oklahoma State, leaving the Sooners with just two scholarship running backs — Trey Sermon and Kennedy Brooks.
–OL Jonathan Alvarez, who had been the backup both at center and both guard spots, is out for the season after suffering multiple injuries. His backup, Alex Dalton, suffered a torn ACL last week in practice and his season is over as well.
–S Kahlil Haughton missed the last two games with an unspecified injury.
–DE Jalen Redmond, who played in three games, had a recurrence of the blood clots which initially led to him being declared out for the season. Redmond will redshirt.
