PLAYERS TO WATCH

–FB/TE Carson Meier had his first multi-catch game last week against TCU and continues to become a bigger part of OU’s offense. Lincoln Riley said Meier’s development as a pass-catcher has let him grow into the role that Dimitri Flowers had before Flowers’ graduation after last year. “He’s always been a good blocker but he’s really improved — not just catching the ball, but understanding our route concepts, understanding where we need him to be versus different coverages,” Riley said. “So that development has allowed us to use him more. He’s a weapon there.”

–WR Lee Morris, Kyler Murray’s high school teammate, has scored touchdowns on eight of his 12 career catches. The former walk-on had two more touchdown catches on Saturday vs. TCU. “He knows how to find the soft spot in the zone,” Murray said. “And he’s a playmaker. Just because he’s a walk-on, people want to label him as probably not the best receiver out there. I think he’s one of the best athletes on the team regardless of him being a walk-on. When he touches the ball, obviously, you all see what happens. He makes plays.” Morris was a walk-on early this season before receiving a scholarship.

–LB Kenneth Murray leads the Sooners with 85 tackles, four ahead of fellow linebacker Curtis Bolton. Murray already has seven more tackles than he did all of last season, when he earned freshman All-America honors from the Football Writers Association of America and USA Today.

–K/P Austin Seibert has made 138 consecutive PATs, dating back to the 2016 season. Seibert broke the school record of 134 consecutive PAT conversions that was held by Uwe von Schamann (1976-78). Seibert is 15th in FBS history for scoring among kickers with 424 points. He needs nine points to move into the top 10.

SERIES HISTORY: Oklahoma leads Kansas State 75-19-4, including 36-7-4 in Norman. The Wildcats, though, have won two out of the last three meetings at Oklahoma.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “Somebody asked in here about the presumption that the production at the quarterback position is gonna drop off. I said, ‘Well, we’ll see.’ I’ve always thought he could be a really good player. I knew he would play well. The stats are what they are. I think more than anything, he’s growing as a player, he growing as a leader, he’s handling situations well. ? I’ve felt the whole time whoever won that battle was gonna be in a great situation and had a chance to be a great quarterback for us. That’s just the standard for us right now.” — Lincoln Riley, Sooners’ coach, on Kyler Murray being on pace to break the NCAA passing efficiency record set last year by Baker Mayfield.
