GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: TCU continues to struggle in the turnover department, surrendering a fumble and an interception while not forcing a turnover from Kansas in last week’s loss. This week’s opponent, Kansas State, has also struggled forcing turnovers — the team that wins this statistic will win Saturday in Fort Worth.

DRAFT SLANT

–DE Ben Banogu is the easy pick to be the Horned Frogs’ first player taken in the 2019 draft. He’s a speed rusher off the edge and will be looking to build on his junior season in which he had 8.5 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss. Banogu could’ve tested the draft waters after last season but opted to return. A big season could make him a Day 2 prospect and have him in line for even more honors than he earned after last season. Banogu now has 31 stops, a forced fumble that led to a TD return, a fumble return for score, 6.5 sacks and five quarterback hurries for the season.

ROSTER REPORT:

–The Horned Frogs played outside Texas for the first time this season in their loss Saturday to Kansas.

–QB Michael Collins (New Canaan, Conn.) made his first collegiate start. He also became the first non-Texan to start at quarterback in Gary Patterson’s 21 seasons at TCU. The last previous non-Texas native was Derek Canine from Birmingham, Mich., in the final five games in 1997, the year before Patterson’s arrival.

–DE Ben Banogu had sacks on consecutive snaps in the second quarter, increasing his team-best total to 6.5 on the season. Banogu’s 15.0 sacks in less than two seasons are the most by an active Horned Frog. Banogu’s 4.5 tackles for loss were a career-high. His eight total stops were one shy of a career-best nine when he was at ULM playing against Tulsa in 2015.
