Texas wide receiver Al’Vonte Woodward broke his left foot during a voluntary workout and will miss part of the 2019 season.

“He will undergo surgery next week and is expected to be able to return at some point this fall,” the university said in a statement.

Woodward was reportedly participating in a player-led 7-on-7 practice when the injury occurred on Thursday.

The 6-foot-1 redshirt freshman was an Under Armour All-American and a four-star recruit in the Longhorns’ 2018 recruiting class. He was the 20th-ranked prospect nationally among receivers, per the 247Sports Composite.

Texas begins the season at home against Louisiana Tech on Aug. 31. The Longhorns’ first Big 12 game is at home against Oklahoma State on Sept. 21.
