Texas sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger sustained an injury to his throwing shoulder during Saturday’s game against Baylor.

Ehlinger, who has completed 65.3 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and two interceptions this season, was forced to leave the game early in the first quarter because he was bleeding. He jogged to the locker room and returned to the sideline in the second quarter with what appeared to be a bandage on his left hand but the school said it was a shoulder injury.

Ehlinger was 4 of 5 for 35 yards passing and rushed twice for five yards Saturday before giving way to junior Shane Buechele.

Ehlinger threw for 314 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 72 yards and three scores in the No. 9 Longhorns’ 48-45 victory over No. 11 Oklahoma last week. He has six rushing TDs this year and hasn’t thrown an interception since getting picked twice in a season-opening 34-29 loss at Maryland.
