GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: West Virginia’s running attack against Oklahoma State’s defense. The Mountaineers, though considered a high-powered offense because of their thrilling passing attack spurred by quarterback Will Grier, would rather run the ball to help keep the Cowboys’ dangerous attack off the field. Oklahoma State will also try to be balanced on offense, so it will be a chess game between the two teams as to how to control the clock.

DRAFT SLANT

–WR David Sills V was in his first full season as a wideout last year and produced some prodigious offensive stats (60 catches, 980 yards and 18 touchdowns). He’s one of two West Virginia players (Grier is the other) named to the AP preseason All-American team and has been lethal this year with 49 catches for 697 yards and 12 touchdowns over the first nine games. He’s a prototype slot receiver who can make the big catches over the middle and handle one-on-one hand-play with defensive backs.

ROSTER REPORT:

–The win Saturday moved Holgorsen past Rich Rodriguez into sole possession of second place in career wins at WVU with 61, trailing just Hall of Fame coach Don Nehlen’s 149 victories.

–S Dravon Askew-Henry made his team-leading 48th career start, second-most in West Virginia history, against TCU.

–QB Will Grier finished with 343 passing yards versus TCU, tying Geno Smith (2009-12) for the school record for career 300-yard passing games (17). He also passed Smith (2010) for No. 8 in single-season passing yards (2,961).
