PLAYERS TO WATCH

–QB Will Grier, the fifth-year senior and Heisman Trophy contender has thrown for 2,961 yards and 31 touchdowns, including 343 yards and three TDs in the win over TCU last week. He has found 12 different receivers and recorded 16 300-yard passing performances and 17 multiple-touchdown games during his WVU career. Grier is tied for second nationally in touchdown per game (3.4).

–RB Kennedy McKoy carried 10 times for 40 yards in the win over TCU as the Mountaineers rolled to 164 yards on the ground. McKoy has had his share of carries over his first two years, and now has 91 totes for 500 yards and four touchdowns, and 11 catches for 143 more and a TD over West Virginia’s first nine games.

–WR Marcus Simms hauled in three passes for 69 yards against TCU and now has 38 catches for 635 yards and two touchdowns in the first nine games.

–S Kenny Robinson had four stops in the win over TCU and now has 59 tackles on the season. Stats aren’t the best measure for a college defensive back, but Robinson shows up when you watch the tape, too, routinely making decisive tackles with textbook technique.

SERIES HISTORY: Oklahoma State leads West Virginia, 5-4. The Cowboys have won three in a row over the Mountaineers, marking the longest streak for either side in the series. OSU won last year’s meeting at WVU, 50-39.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “TCU don’t get beat like that. (TCU coach) Gary (Patterson) said after we did this two years ago (beat TCU 34-10) he said, ‘TCU don’t get beat like that.’ This was like their worst loss in like three decades or something, so I think that tells you where our team is right now and where our program is right now.” — West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen after the win over TCU.
