Quarterback Brandon Dawkins, who started the first four games of the 2017 season for Arizona, has decided to play at Indiana next season, Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.com reported Tuesday.

As a graduate transfer, Dawkins will be eligible to play immediately in 2018 for the Hoosiers.

Dawkins started nine games in 2016 for Arizona and the first four games this past season before sophomore Khalil Tate took over and put up impressive numbers.

Dawkins announced in February that he would transfer from Arizona. In addition to Indiana, Dawkins visited Florida Atlantic.

“I didn’t see a better fit for me,” Dawkins told Rittenberg. “I could have committed there two weeks ago. There were other schools, but at the end of the day, Indiana definitely showed that they’re interested and they wanted me, they made that clear and apparent. I really respect that about them. They weren’t going to dance around. They genuinely wanted me.”

In 2017, Dawkins completed 61.4 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 459 yards and averaged 6.7 yards per carry.

Peyton Ramsey started four games at quarterback as a redshirt freshman for Indiana in 2017.
