GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Call it strength against strength as Michigan State enters the game as the No. 1 rushing defense in the nation while Penn State is gaining 261.1 yards a game on the ground, good for second in the Big Ten and 12th in the country. The Spartans’ primary goal in each game is to stop the run, something the Nittany Lions could take advantage of as quarterback Trace McSorley is one of the most dangerous play-makers in the conference.

DRAFT SLANT

–WR Felton Davis will get plenty of attention from NFL scouts thanks to his 6-foot-4 frame, strong hands and top-end speed. All have been on display in the last few weeks as Davis has 23 grabs for 347 yards with a couple of touchdowns, adding a 48-yard scoring run against Northwestern. It was the first rushing touchdown for Davis, who carried twice for 50 yards.

ROSTER REPORT

–Fifth-year senior P Jake Hartbarger is out for the season with a broken right leg and will seek a medical redshirt for next season, Dantonio said.

–Fifth-year senior G David Beedle will be out for up to a month after suffering an arm injury last week.

–Redshirt freshman and former walk-on Blake Bueter got his first career start last week at right guard.
