GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: It’s not a direct matchup, but each team has an outstanding defense that keeps the team in every game they play. Michigan is the No. 2 overall defense in the nation while Michigan State checks in at No. 37 overall with the top rushing defense in the country. Which unit can come up with a few more big plays could be the difference as both get after the quarterback and have done a good job of turning the ball over. Neither are perfect, though, as Michigan State is allowing 286.3 yards passing a game and Michigan is last in the Big Ten in red zone defense. Both units will have their share of momentum swingers, but the one that has just one more could help their team take home the Paul Bunyan Trophy.

DRAFT SLANT

–WR Felton Davis keeps proving each week that he has a future in the NFL as he recorded his second straight multi-touchdown game against Penn State. His eight grabs for 100 yards and two scores was impressive enough, but the fact he made a big play on the final drive by breaking up a potential interception while fighting through a hip injury to catch the game-winner says a lot about his makeup.

ROSTER REPORT

–RB LJ Scott missed his fourth straight game last week with an ankle injury and his status for this week’s game remains questionable.

–WR Cam Chambers injured his right thumb in the first half against Penn State but the sophomore returned and played with his hand heavily bandaged.

–WR Felton Davis hurt his hip on the final drive vs. Penn State but isn’t expected to miss any time.

–RG Kevin Jarvis missed his third straight game with an ankle injury and is questionable this week.

–WR Darrell Stewart Jr. continues to be bothered by an ankle injury and did not play vs. Penn State. He might be back this week vs. Michigan.
