GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Purdue comes into the game throwing for more than 514 yards a game, the second-best in the Big Ten and 10th in the nation while scoring 35.7 points a game. Clearly, that will be a challenge for a Michigan State defense that is allowing 275.7 yards a game through the air. The Spartans have done a good job clamping down in the red zone but have been allowing teams to hit them underneath for big chunks of yardage. If Michigan State can get some pressure on Purdue QB David Blough and contain freshman Rondale Moore, it will have a good shot to contain the Boilermakers.

DRAFT SLANT

–WR Felton Davis was positioning himself well for next spring’s draft with the senior season he was having, including four touchdowns in the previous two games. But the Achilles injury he suffered last week definitely puts a damper on his prospects as Davis had been projected by some to be a mid-round selection.

ROSTER REPORT

–C Matt Allen left the Michigan game in the second half with a leg injury. The sophomore’s status is uncertain.

–WR Darrell Stewart Jr. returned to the lineup last week after missing two of the previous three games with an ankle injury.

–CB Josh Butler could get back on the field this week, Dantonio said. Butler was hurt in week three against Indiana and has missed the bulk of the action since.

–CB Josiah Scott will return to practice this week, Dantonio said. The sophomore injured his knee in the first couple days of preseason camp.
