GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Who holds onto the ball more figures to be the team in the best position to win, and that’s something Michigan has been exceptional at. The Wolverines lead the Big Ten in time of possession at nearly 34:18 per game, with all but one contest seeing them win the TOP battle. Penn State is second-to-last in the league, possessing the ball less than 28 minutes per game on average.

DRAFT SLANT

–Senior DE Chase Winovich is no longer leading the Big Ten in tackles for loss but he remains a force on defense and that’s helped his draft stock. “He sure has been having an impressive season,” coach Jim Harbaugh said. “All ways that a defensive end can affect a game, he’s found it.”

ROSTER REPORT:

–Coach Jim Harbaugh did not provide any updates on various injured players, leaving it uncertain whether DE Rashan Gary (shoulder), WR Tarik Black (foot surgery) or others will be available for Saturday.

–Former Michigan basketball star Chris Webber, he of the Fab Five era, is expected to be the Wolverines’ honorary captain for the Penn State game.
