Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong sustained an apparent head injury during the second quarter of a Big Ten game against Ohio State on Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio.
Armstrong lay motionless on the sideline for several minutes and was briefly unconscious after he was hit by Ohio State safety Malik Hooker with 6:06 remaining before halftime on an 11-yard gain.
The senior was attended to by medical personnel on the sideline while the Ohio Stadium crowd watched in stunned silence. Armstrong’s shoulder pads were cut off and his neck was secured in a brace.
Armstrong was placed on a stretcher and moved into a waiting ambulance to be transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Nebraska was trailing 24-7 when Armstrong was injured. He had completed 4 of 15 passes for 74 yards and run for 19 yards on four carries.
