No. 19 Northwestern will be without top wide receiver Flynn Nagel for Saturday’s regular-season finale against visiting Illinois.

Nagel is dealing with an unspecified leg injury suffered in last week’s 24-14 win at Minnesota that clinched the Big Ten West Division title.

The Wildcats (7-4, 7-1 Big Ten), who have already matched their best conference record since 1995, have won six of their last seven games — losing only to Notre Dame in that span.

Saturday’s game has no bearing on the league standings for Northwestern, which will play the winner of Michigan-Ohio State in the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis on Dec. 1.

Nagel, one of 19 seniors who will be honored by the school on Saturday, has 64 receptions for 746 yards — both career highs — to go with two touchdowns in 10 games.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Nagel’s status for the conference title game is unclear. He has three 100-yard games this season, including 12 catches for 220 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-31 win over Nebraska on Oct. 13.

For his career, Nagel has 152 catches for 1,697 yards and six touchdowns in 35 games.

Illinois enters Saturday’s game with a 4-7 record overall and 2-6 mark in Big Ten play.
