Ohio State’s quarterback Stephen Collier, who was battling for the backup spot behind starter J.T. Barrett, suffered a torn anterior-cruciate ligament and will be lost for the season, Eleven Warriors reported Wednesday.

An Ohio State spokesman confirmed to Eleven Warriors that Collier had surgery Wednesday, and said the quarterback is “most likely” out for the season.

Collier is believed to have injured the knee during the Spring Game April 16.

Collier was competing with redshirt freshman Joe Burrow for the backup job.
