PLAYERS TO WATCH

–RB Miles Sanders ran 27 times for 88 yards but also lost a fumble — which has been a problem for him — late in the fourth quarter. Ohio State’s JK Dobbins racked up 203 rushing yards on 37 carries against the Terps last week, however.

–QB Trace McSorley became Penn State’s all-time winningest starting quarterback a week ago and holds nearly every other offensive record for the Nittany Lions. He’s developed quite a fandom in Central Pennsylvania and should be good for a few highlights in his final collegiate game.

–TE Pat Freiermuth has emerged as a legitimate receiving option and stays on the field to block too. He’s caught three passes in each of the last three games and snagged a pair of touchdowns on plays craftily designed for him last week.

–DE Shareef Miller was a force against Rutgers and has three sacks in his last two games.

–LB Micah Parsons leads the Nittany Lions with 65 tackles and 30 solo stops. His closing speed should come in handy against a team that runs the ball 67 percent of the time.

SERIES HISTORY: Penn State leads Maryland 38-2-1. The Nittany Lions won the last meeting 66-3 on Nov. 25, 2017 in College Park.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “Offensively, we have to finish drives. I think we had two drives on Saturday that went for 12 plays or more, and we weren’t able to finish the way we should finish. So those are the things that really kind of jumped out after watching the game and making some corrections.” — Penn State coach James Franklin
