PLAYERS TO WATCH

–RB Miles Sanders was spectacular against Michigan State with 162 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries against one of the nation’s top rushing defenses. He could be more involved in the passing game moving forward as the Nittany Lions’ receivers have struggled as a whole.

–QB Trace McSorley said the team needs to come together after back-to-back tough losses. He recently became the program’s all-time leading passing yardage leader and is always a threat to create offense on his own. In three games against the Hoosiers and two as the starter, McSorley has generated 650 yards of total offense and six total touchdowns.

–DT Kevin Givens will likely see more time with teammate Fred Hansard out for the season with a lower body injury. Givens has been consistently disruptive up front and the Hoosiers have struggled against tough inside defenders to the tune of 37 tackles for loss allowed.

–S Garrett Taylor now has two tipped-ball interceptions in the last two games and made a cerebral play to break up a fake field goal try last week. He’s become a force on the back end of the defense.

SERIES HISTORY: Penn State leads Indiana 20-1. The Nittany Lions won the last meeting 45-14 at Beaver Stadium last season.

QUOTE TO NOTE: ” I think we played really well, you know, week one, week two, week three. We kept getting better. You know, we did not play that way last week. I think everybody’s probably focusing on the last two weeks and I get that.” — Penn State coach James Franklin on the team’s struggles the last two weeks.
