Resisting overtures from his alma mater has landed Jeff Brohm an extension at Purdue.

The new seven-year deal, which is worth nearly $37 million and adds a year to his existing contract, includes a $1.7 million signing bonus. It was approved at a board of trustees meeting on Friday.

Brohm, raised in Louisville and a former quarterback for the Louisville Cardinals, turned down a chance to coach the school in November.

“We think we have built a solid foundation for success over the past two seasons and look forward to continuing to strive for excellence on and off the field,” Brohm said of his new contract.

Brohm, 47, is 13-13 in two seasons at Purdue.

Purdue had nine wins from 2013-16 before Brohm entered the picture. The Boilermakers posted a marquee win over then No. 2 Ohio State last season on their way to a second straight bowl game.
