PLAYERS TO WATCH

–QB David Blough put up numbers against Wisconsin, throwing for 386 yards and four touchdowns. But it ultimately wasn’t enough to secure a bowl bid, and Blough now knows that the next loss will be the last one of his college career. But he did get some good news this week when he was named as a finalist for the Wuerffel Trophy, given to the player who best emphasizes athletics, academics and community service.

–WR Rondale Moore continues to stake his claim as one of the best freshmen in the country. He had nine catches for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the loss to Wisconsin and continues to display new moves and skills every week. Regardless of whether you’re a Boilermaker fan or not, Moore remains one of the most fun players to watch in the Big Ten.

–LB Markus Bailey led the Boilermakers with 11 tackles against Wisconsin. He’s the player who seems to epitomize the defense — when he isn’t at his best, the unit struggles. Playing on the road at rival Indiana, he’ll have to do a much better job of stopping the run than the team did over the last two weeks.

–K Spencer Evans has had an up-and-down season for the Boilermakers. He made all three of his attempts against Wisconsin, but it’ll be a tense group of Purdue fans in a hostile stadium if it all comes down to his leg this week.

SERIES HISTORY: Purdue leads Indiana 73-41-6. Purdue’s 31-24 victory a year ago broke a four-game losing streak to the Hoosiers.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “We haven’t been able to win the last two games, and you know, you’ve just got to go back to the drawing board and realize that it is a one-game season and figure out where we made mistakes and what we can correct and put our players in the best position to succeed and win.” — Coach Jeff Brohm, on getting his team back on track after a two-game losing streak.
