KEY MATCHUP: Rutgers against the road with a rookie quarterback. The Scarlet Knights were hammered at No. 4 Ohio State and now visit Kansas, traditionally one of the worst teams in college football. But the Jayhawks are riding the high of the program’s first road win since 2009. Freshman quarterback Artur Sitkowski was hurt against Ohio State and has to bounce back and continue his maturation.

–LB Trevor Morris has shaken off a dislocated elbow suffered in camp and is off to a strong start for what would be a third straight 100-tackle season. Last season, his 118 tackles were second in the Big Ten. Last week at Ohio State, he had 11 tackles, 10 solo and one sack, for eighth yards.

–CB Blessaun Austin missed last week’s game at Ohio State with a knee injury and is considered week to week. “Just some precautionary stuff that we’re going through,” coach Chris Ash said. “There’s still some things that we’re looking at to figure out exactly what happened to him, but he will be inactive for this game. It’ll be a week-to-week deal from there until we get some opinions from some doctors looking at his knee.” Monday, Ash said, “He’s still a wait-and-see, still going to be a week-to-week. He’s not necessarily day-to-day, he’s week-to-week.”

–S Kiy Hester missed the game at Ohio State with a leg injury. “Kiy should be back,” says Ash. “Kiy could have played last Saturday if we needed him to play in an emergency. He should be fine for this next week.”

–CB Tre Avery was also out of the Ohio State game. “(Avery) is week to week,” Ash said Monday. “I think right now today he’s probably day-to-day. This week we’re hoping to get Tre back.”

–Freshman QB Artur Sitkowski suffered a right shoulder injury at Ohio State that is not believed to be serious enough for him to miss this week’s game at Kansas.
