PLAYERS TO WATCH

–RB Jonathan Taylor just keeps on piling up the yardage. The sophomore ran for 159 yards in last week’s win over Illinois to up his season total to 1,109 yards. He became the ninth player in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. He leads the nation with an average of 158.4 yards per game.

–LB T.J. Edwards is on a hot streak. He notched his ninth interception of his career against Illinois. Edwards’ play in recent weeks has helped the Badgers overcome numerous injuries, particularly in the secondary.

–TE Jake Ferguson is becoming a consistent go-to player. He had three receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown against Illinois. His pass-catching opens up the offense by giving Taylor more running lanes.

–QB Alex Hornibrook had another up-and-down effort at Illinois. His consistency down the stretch is key to the Badgers’ hopes for a West title. He threw three touchdowns but also had two interceptions.

SERIES HISTORY: Wisconsin leads Northwestern 59-35-5. The Badgers have won the last two meetings.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “We like to think the focus stays the same. Guys come in well-prepared mentally and physically. We have 100 percent faith in them that they will do what we ask of them. We have to do our job as well.” — Wisconsin linebacker T.J. Edwards on the rash of injuries on defense.
