Troy quarterback Sawyer Smith announced Monday that he has transferred to Kentucky for his final two seasons.

Smith will be immediately eligible due to being a graduate transfer.

Smith made his announcement on Twitter.

“Excited to announce that I’m going to spend my last seasons as a Graduate Transfer at THE University of Kentucky!! Words can’t begin to explain how proud my family and I are to be apart of the #BBN @UKFootball”

Smith passed for 1,669 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions last season. He started the final seven games after Kaleb Barker was lost due to a knee injury.

Kentucky was in the market for a quarterback after backup Gunnar Hoak recently transferred to Ohio State. Junior Terry Wilson returns as the Wildcats’ starter.
