Sam Mustipher – Noteworthy
When Notre Dame holds its annual pro day on March 20, no Fighting Irish hopeful will have more at stake than Sam Mustipher. Snubbed by NFL scouting combine organizers despite starting the final 38 games of his college career, the respected co-captain and Rimington Trophy finalist was a glaring omission from the recent proceedings. A whopping 337 players were invited, including 57 offensive linemen, but the former Notre Dame center was nowhere to be found at the Indiana Convention Center.

“I’m not sure what to think of that,” Texas A&M center Erik McCoy says. “I know he’s a great player. I know he led his team very well at Notre Dame. It’s a surprise.” As a connoisseur of football in general and line play in particular, McCoy had taken note of Mustipher as he flipped through channels and caught a few Notre Dame games last season. Another opportunity came in the Cotton Bowl, where Mustipher did battle with Christian Wilkins and the rest of a Clemson defensive line filled with future pros. – The Indianapolis Star
