PLAYERS TO WATCH

–CB Julian Love leads Notre Dame with nine pass break-ups this season. He will be an important piece of the Fighting Irish secondary as Stanford looks to stretch the field.

–RB Jafar Armstrong continues to produce at a high level. He rushed for a career-high 98 yards and two scores last week against Wake Forest, and he will try to upstage Stanford RB Bryce Love in front of a national TV audience.

–TE Alize Mack will try to stay hot after grabbing six receptions for 61 yards against Wake Forest. The six catches marked a career high for Mack, who has formed a strong connection with QB Ian Book.

–K Justin Yoon could be a difference maker if Saturday’s game is close or tied late in the fourth quarter. Yoon is 5-for-7 on his field goal attempts with a season long of 48 yards. He has made all 15 extra-point attempts.

SERIES HISTORY: This is the 33rd meeting between the programs. Notre Dame leads the series, 19-13.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “I think there’s some similarities in the sense that we both are trying to achieve excellence both in the classroom and on the football field as our primary mission. For us it’s a little bit probably much more of a grander scheme in terms of coast to coast. But you know, they’ve got a strong academic and a strong alumni base, as well.” — Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly when asked about the parallels between Notre Dame and Stanford.
