Utah senior running back Devontae Booker will miss at least the rest of the regular season after undergoing surgery to repair torn meniscus cartilage in his left knee, according to published reports.

Booker suffered the injury during last Saturday’s double-overtime loss to Arizona. He is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks and that timetable could cause him to miss Utah’s bowl game as well.

Booker has rushed for 1,261 yards and 11 touchdowns and has carried the Utah offense. He is averaging 26.8 carries per game and also ranks second on the team with 37 receptions.

Utah is in the mix for a spot in the Pac-12 title game and has a key contest with UCLA this Saturday. Junior Joe Williams is the likely starter in Booker’s absence.

Booker tied a school record with his 14th career 100-yard rushing game last Saturday. Despite being in only his season at the school, he ranks third in school history with 2,773 rushing yards.
