It was one of several key injuries suffered by the Ducks, who could be without running back Royce Freeman (leg) against Colorado this weekend. Left tackle Tyrell Crosby is also out for the season due to a foot injury.

Allen is believed to have suffered a torn ACL on a non-contact play while covering a punt against the Cornhuskers.

“Barring a miracle he won’t play again this season,” a source told CSNNW.com.

Allen, who is a world-class 110-meter hurdler, injured his right ACL returning a kickoff in 2015 and missed the following track season. While he has one season of eligibility remaining, the injury could spell the end of Allen’s football career.

Allen finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles at the Rio Olympics last month, and there was speculation he may not return to the Ducks football team this season so he could focus on his track career. Allen caught four passes for 141 yards and a touchdown against Virginia on Sept. 10, but did not have a reception in either of the Ducks’ other two games this season.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Allen had been rated as the No. 14 junior wide receiver prospect in the nation by NFLDraftScout.com before the injury.
