Thomas Tyner, Oregon’s second-leading rusher last season, reportedly will miss the entire 2015 season after having shoulder surgery last week.

Tyner’s father told CSNNW.com that Tyner had shoulder surgery on Friday to repair an injury sustained last season. He also said Tyner will not play this season as he rehabs from the surgery.

Tyner rushed for 573 yards last season, averaging 52.1 yards per game and 5.1 yards per carry. He rushed for 62 yards in last season’s national semifinal playoff victory over Florida State and added 39 yards in the loss to Ohio State in the national championship game.

The Ducks’ leading rusher from last season, Royce Freeman, returns after gaining 1,365 yards on the ground in 2014.

Byron Marshall, the Ducks’ leading rusher in 2013 before being moved to wide receiver last season, could return to the running back spot if Oregon needs more depth at the position. Marshall was Oregon’s leading receiver last season.

Oregon is ranked No. 5 in the preseason USA Today coaches poll.
