GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Being able to slow down Washington quarterback Jake Browning, who has labored in his senior season, seems to be a secret sauce to keeping the Huskies limited to their strong defense and speedy tailback Myles Gaskin. Browning went just 11 of 21 against Cal, and threw an interception. Stanford, at least on paper, has a stronger secondary to frustrate him. If Stanford can dare Washington to throw and succeed, the Cardinal might have a resurgent night after dropping three of its past four.

DRAFT SLANT

–RB Bryce Love continued his slow climb back from injury, taking six carries for 71 yards in a 41-38 loss to Washington State. Love, who could end up being the first running back taken in the 2019 NFL Draft, did have a run of 43 yards. Love is currently ranked the third running back in this year’s draft class by NFL Draft Scout — behind Iowa State’s David Montgomery and Oklahoma State’s Justice Hill.
