PLAYERS TO WATCH

–WR Tyler Vaughns scored touchdowns on a trick-play pass, a reception and a punt return in the loss to Arizona State. Vaughns came into the 2018 season the team’s top returning wide receiver but was slow to re-establish himself behind Michael Pittman and Amon-Ra St. Brown early into 2018. His 72-yard performance last week should be a building block for the remainder of the season.

–RB Aca’Cedric Ware ripped off a career-high 173 yards rushing Sept. 29 at Arizona, but carried the ball just six times combined in the next two games. Ware appeared to be back at 100 percent with a team-leading 13 rushes last week. He should see a workload comparable to his 21 carries against Arizona, facing an Oregon State defense allowing 6.7 yards per carry.

–LB John Houston Jr. helped key USC’s rally from down 17 points against Arizona State. Coach Clay Helton credited the veteran Houston for rallying the defense, and Houston’s efforts to help fill the run-stopping void left with LB Cameron Smith injured resulted in seven tackles.

–DT Jordan Iosefa played his second impressive game in a row, making six tackles and joining in on a tackle for loss last week against Arizona State. Iosefa scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery Oct. 20 at Utah, as well.

SERIES HISTORY: USC leads the series with Oregon State, 62-11-4. Four of Oregon State’s wins against the Trojans have come since 2000, though none since 2010. The Beavers had a three-game winning streak at Reser Stadium from 2006 through 2010, which the Trojans snapped in 2013.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “I hurt for them, I’m not really worried about myself. I’m more worried about the guy that gave extreme effort or seniors in that locker room. … There’s a bunch of warriors in there. We didn’t win a ballgame today and I hurt for them and we’ll go out there and get one next week.” — USC coach Clay Helton
