USC junior cornerback Jack Jones was ruled academically ineligible for the 2018 season, multiple media outlets reported.

Jones, who sat out spring practice because of his academic issues, is not expected to return to the school, according to Rivals.com.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Jones started 13 of 14 games for the Trojans in 2017, registering a team-high four interceptions along with eight deflections and 40 tackles.

A third-team All-American, Jones also contributed on special teams, returning kicks and punts, and he blocked a field goal attempt.

Jones appeared in all 13 games in a reserve role as a freshman in 2016, notching 13 tackles and a fumble recovery.

–Former Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow announced that he is transferring to LSU.

Burrow confirmed a report by the Cincinnati Enquirer, posting on his Twitter account that he plans to play in Baton Rouge for the Tigers.

“Excited to be playing in Death Valley next season. Ready to get to work,” wrote Burrow, who earlier this month announced his plans to leave Ohio State as a graduate transfer.

Burrow selected LSU over the University of Cincinnati, the Enquirer reported, citing a source close to the Bearcats’ program.

A former Mr. Ohio Football, Burrow never started a game at Ohio State, but he completed 29 of 39 passes for two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He ran 12 times for 58 yards and a touchdown in 2016.

–Nebraska starting center Michael Decker announced that is will no longer play football.

“Over the past (six) months, I have taken a step back and looked at my future career goals and decided that I can no longer (accommodate) football’s commitments,” Decker said in a statement. “It is finally time to see that these aspirations outweighed the lacking desire to continue playing the game. Which, given the team’s goals, would only hurt them by my participation.”

Decker started five games in 2017 for Nebraska before his sophomore season was cut short by a knee injury. It also kept him out this spring.

–Former West Virginia wide receiver Reggie Roberson announced that he is transferring to Southern Methodist University.

Roberson is a native Texan.

“I’m back home,” Roberson wrote on Twitter.

Roberson must sit out this season because of NCAA transfer rules. He will have three years of eligibility when he plays in 2019.

Roberson played 10 games for the Mountaineers as a true freshman in 2017. He caught six passes for 30 yards with a touchdown.

–Michigan State defensive lineman Kyonta Stallworth is the eighth player to transfer out of the school this offseason.

Stallworth, a redshirt junior, announced his plans on Twitter.

“After much consideration and contemplation, I have decided to transfer from Michigan State University,” Stallworth wrote. “Although I will play my remaining football elsewhere, I will always be a Spartan first.”

Stallworth had 11 tackles in five games last season.
