Jack Tuttle, the highest-rated quarterback recruit ever to sign with Utah, has decided to transfer, multiple media outlets reported this week.

Neither Tuttle nor the school has publicly commented of the player’s status.

Tuttle was a four-star member of the Utes’ 2018 recruiting class and was rated the No. 8 pro-style quarterback in the country, according to 247Sports.com.

He enrolled early and participated in Utah’s quarterback competition. He entered the season as the team’s No. 3 quarterback and has not played a down in Utah’s first six games.

According to 247Sports.com, his possible transfer destinations include Ohio State, Duke, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and West Virginia.

In high school, Tuttle received scholarship offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, LSU, Nebraska, USC and Wisconsin, among others.

Tyler Huntley has been the Utes’ starting quarterback all season for coach Kyle Whittingham, and Huntley has been particularly effective in Utah’s last two games. He completed 17 of 21 passes for 199 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in a 40-21 victory over Stanford, and he was 14 of 19 for 201 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the 42-10 win over Arizona last week. He added 87 rushing yards in those two games combined.

The only other quarterback who has thrown a pass for Utah this season is freshman Jason Shelley, who has completed 2 of 3 passes in mop-up situations.
