Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a broken collarbone during Saturday’s 38-20 setback at Arizona State.

Freshman Jason Shelley will take over starting duties in place of Huntley, who was carted off the field in the third quarter after colliding with Sun Devils defensive back Demonte King.

Huntley completed 150 of 234 passes for 1,788 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions this season for the Utes, who are in first place in the Pac-12 South. Utah owns a 6-3 mark overall and 4-3 conference record.

The junior quarterback completed 7 of 15 passes for 88 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions against Arizona State.

Shelley entered Saturday’s contest and led the Utes to a field goal, trimming their deficit to 21-20. He finished just 4 of 11 for 59 yards with an interception versus the Sun Devils, who scored the game’s final 17 points to seal the win.

Shelley, who is expected to start next week’s home game against Oregon, had attempted just three passes in his career prior to Saturday’s action.

Sophomore walk-on Drew Lisk is the lone other quarterback on the roster for Utah, which announced two weeks ago that freshman Kyle Tuttle was “no longer participating in team activities.”
