GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Colorado’s inability to mount a rushing attack last week at USC also doomed the Buffs’ multifaceted passing attack. Run plays were slow to develop, resulting in 18 tackles for loss. Washington’s stout defense has not teed off in opponents’ backfields quite as consistently in 2018 as a season ago, but the Huskies should have that opportunity on Saturday against a Buffs offense that averaged just 2.6 yards per carry last time out.

DRAFT SLANT

–LB Ben Burr-Kirven lacks the measurables that wow scouts, standing 6-foot and 222 pounds. His ball-hawking has produced a more impressive number — 93 tackles — and he should see plenty of work against Saturday against Colorado’s hurry-up offense.

ROSTER REPORT:

–RB Myles Gaskin sustained a shoulder injury at Oregon. His status for Saturday is uncertain.

–LB Jaylen Johnson was disqualified for a targeting penalty in the fourth quarter at Oregon, and will miss the first half Saturday.

–WR Quinten Pounds suffered a season-ending knee injury at Oregon, Chris Petersen announced on Monday.

–RB Salvon Ahmed sustained a knee injury, and is questionable for this week.

–DB Austin Joyner will miss the remainder of the season due to the concussion that sidelined him Oct. 6 and 13.

–LB D.J. Beavers remains sidelined with an undisclosed injury.

–QB Jake Browning passed Steve Stenstrom, Cade McNown and Marcus Mariota last week to move to No. 9 all-time in career passing yards in Pac-12 history. He sits at 10,855, 58 behind No. 8 Alex Brink. Browning is also tied with Cody Kessler for most passing touchdowns in Pac-12 history at 88. He’s two behind No. 6 Connor Halliday.
