GAME BREAKDOWN
KEY MATCHUP: Alabama, in some places, is listed as a 51-point favorite over The Citadel, so to call anything a key matchup doesn’t sound right. The only thing that matters is how Alabama comes out of this game health-wise, especially as it pertains to QB Tua Tagovailoa.
DRAFT SLANT
–DT Quinnen Williams is listed as the No. 2 pick in a recent mock draft by NFLDraftScout.com’s Rob Rang, who has Williams going to the Raiders. Rang wrote: “After trading away Kahlil Mack, Jon Gruden and Co. will almost surely dedicate at least one of their three first-round picks on an impact defensive lineman. With all due respect to his true sophomore quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, “Big Q” has been the most dominant draft-eligible prospect in the country this season, ruining opponent’ game plans with his upfield burst and power.”
ROSTER REPORT:
–S Deionte Thompson, considered a potential All-American and first-round pick, didn’t register a single defensive statistic last week against Mississippi State — no tackles, no passes broken up, no nothing. A lot of that was by design as Mississippi State went away from him.
–RB Najee Harris is dealing with a sprained ankle. He played last week but might have aggravated the injury in the second quarter; he did not return.
–CB Trevon Diggs, a starter, is out indefinitely because of a fractured foot.
–CB Jalyn Armour-Davis, a freshman who was the fifth cornerback on the depth chart, is out for the season because of a knee injury.
–S Daniel Wright, a sophomore, is out for the season because of a shoulder injury.
–OLB Terrell Lewis suffered a torn ACL over the summer during a workout and is working to get back this season. He was limited to four games because of an arm injury last season and was expected to be a key part of the OLB rotation.
–OLB Chris Allen, a sophomore, is out for the season because of a knee injury.
