Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema hinted over the weekend that running back Jonathan Williams would be sidelined for a significant period after he sustained a foot injury in a scrimmage.

On Monday, the definitive word came down, and it was not good news for the Razorbacks. Bielema announced that Williams, the team’s leading rusher last season, will miss the entire 2015 season.

Williams will have surgery on his left foot, and that probably will keep him off his feet until December.

Williams rushed for 1,190 yards in 2014, and is Arkansas’ No. 10 career rusher with 2,321 yards.

Williams’ absence may put an additional load on Alex Collins, who was second on the team in rushing last season with 1,100 yards. Williams and Collins were the only FBS teammates to rush for more than 1,000 yards last season.
