State quarterback Dak Prescott led one second-quarter scoring drive and was named the game’s Most Outstanding Player in the South’s 27-16 victory over the North on Saturday in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
Prescott mixed passes and runs on the march that culminated with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Southeast Missouri’s Paul McRoberts for a 17-3 halftime lead.
Prescott finished 7-of-10 passing for 61 yards and ran three times for 13 yards. McRoberts had four catches for 46 yards.
Two other Southeastern Conference quarterbacks — Arkansas’ Brandon Allen and Alabama’s Jake Coker — led scoring drives for the South. Allen completed 7 of 10 passes for 106 yards and Coker was 3 of 8 for 23 yards.
North Carolina State quarterback Jacoby Brissett also led a touchdown drive for the South in the fourth quarter.
The South’s Most Valuable Player was Baylor defensive end Shawn Oakman, who had two first-half sacks and a forced fumble.
Boise State safety Darian Thompson was the North’s MVP with five tackles and two pass breakups.
Louisiana Tech quarterback Jeff Driskel, a transfer from Florida, connected on 8 of 9 passes for 108 yards and a 29-yard touchdown throw to Michigan State wide receiver Aaron Burbridge on the final play of the game for the North.
USC quarterback Cody Kessler scored in a 1-yard run in the third quarter that pulled the North to 20-10. Alabama running back Kenyan Drake added the South’s final points in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard run.
TCU running back Aaron Green opened the scoring with a 25-yard run and Duke’s Ross Martin kicked two field goals for the South.
