New Florida coach Dan Mullen announced Monday that the Gators’ first two spring practices next month will be open to the public.

The practices will take place March 16 and 17. The Gators are also opening the two practices to school faculty and staff as well as Gainesville city officials.

Mullen signed a six-year contract in November that will pay him $6 million per year after coaching at Mississippi State the previous nine seasons.

During halftime of Florida’s basketball game on Jan. 27, Mullen promised more transparency with the football team for the community.

“We are going to give you a football team, I promise you, that you can be proud of both on the field on Saturdays and in the community,” Mullen said last month. “Our guys are working their tail off right now to live up to what we know the ‘Gator Standard’ is.”

Florida finished 4-7 last season. The school fired Jim McElwain on Oct. 28 after a 42-7 loss to Georgia and former Miami head coach Randy Shannon finished out the season.
