University of Florida cornerback Brian Edwards is entering the NCAA transfer portal and looking to transfer from the school.

Edwards played two seasons for the Gators. As a special teams player and reserve defensive back, Edwards played 18 games, logging seven tackles, four pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He has not used a redshirt season and has two years of eligibility left.

Edwards announced his decision on Twitter. “First, I want to say thank you to the University of Florida for all they have done for me for the past 2 years,” Edwards wrote. “Unfortunately, I will be entering the transfer portal and looking to further my education and athletic ability elsewhere.”

In May, Edwards was arrested on a first-degree misdemeanor battery charge and accused of choking his girlfriend. The charges were dropped by the Florida state attorney’s office last month due to insufficient evidence and his girlfriend declined to press charges.

Edwards is the sixth Gator to transfer this offseason.
