LSU offensive lineman OL Maea Teuhema is looking for a new home after being indefinitely suspended from the team due to a violation of team rules.
Teuhema, who was granted a release from his scholarship on Wednesday, has been given permission to contact USC, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Houston as transfer destinations, according to SI.com.
Teuhema, who started a total of 21 games at guard and tackle for LSU, would have to sit out this season. He would have two seasons of eligibility remaining, starting in 2018.
–Boston College senior defensive end Harold Landry had a breakout season last year with 16.5 sacks and is ranked as the No. 39 draft prospect by NFLDraftScout.com. Coach Steve Addazio said the Eagles — who ranked ninth nationally last season in total defense — have more pass-rushing firepower at defensive end than just Landry.
“We have three really good pass rushers here,” Addazio said.
“Zach Allen is going to emerge on a breakout year this year. I promise you. He is an elite player. That’ll be a mistake if you turn him into a single block. Wyatt Ray is going to become an elite pass rusher in an elite conference. Those three guys are very talented.”
The Eagles did lose a defender this week, when linebacker Sharrieff Grice, a sophomore, announced his retirement from football. Grice, a potential starter, made 15 tackles last season, including one sack, while starting one game but playing mostly on special teams.
–Oklahoma quarterback Chris Robison, a four-star freshman from Mesquite, Texas, has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules, coach Lincoln Riley said Wednesday. Robison had enrolled early in January.
The Sooners have three quarterbacks on the roster, including Heisman Trophy finalist Baker Mayfield. Texas A&M transfer Kyler Murray and Austin Kendall, both sophomores, are competing for a backup role.
–Arizona State receiver John Humphrey, a sophomore transfer from Oklahoma who has been expected to complement sophomore N’Keal Harry, has worked out at cornerback this week.
“Just looking to get guys in the right spots,” coach Todd Graham said. “John’s a tremendous athlete, tremendous speed. And he wants to help the team.”
Humphrey, who originally committed to Baylor as a cornerback, could end up playing both ways for the Sun Devils.
