PLAYERS TO WATCH

–RB Nick Brossette is playing his last game in Tiger Stadium in what has been a breakout senior season. The Baton Rouge native had played very little and never scored a touchdown before this season. He has 11 touchdowns this season and needs 208 yards to reach 1,000 for the season. That’s a lot of yards in one game but look for LSU to feed him the ball enough to make his last home game memorable even if he has to wait on the 1,000-yard milestone.

–TE Foster Moreau is another senior who will be in the spotlight in his final home game. He has always been a leader and this season was given the honor of wearing No. 18, which goes to a team leader each season. A touchdown in his final home game would be another nice honor.

–DL Tyler Shelvin has come on in recent weeks after losing some weight. The defensive line as a whole is playing better, but Breiden Fehoko won’t play Saturday, giving Shelvin an opportunity to continue building on his recent success.

–CB Kelvin Joseph is expected to start in place of injured Kristian Fulton. The Owls don’t have the most productive passing game, but they likely will try and test Joseph early and often.

SERIES HISTORY: LSU leads Rice 37-13-5, including a 24-2-1 record in Tiger Stadium. The teams haven’t met since 1995 when LSU prevailed, 52-7, in Tiger Stadium.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “Somehow, some way we lost our identity since the Georgia game. We’re trying new things, maybe we put too much in, we need to simplify.” — LSU coach Ed Orgeron on the Tigers’ offensive drop-off in the month since a 36-16 victory against Georgia.
