PLAYERS TO WATCH

–QB Joe Burrow. Texas A&M is ranked No. 2 in the country in run defense, so Burrow is going to have to make plays in the passing game if LSU is going to be successful offensively. Burrow had his most productive passing game last week and did so in just three quarters, but that was against Rice. This will be different. He’s not only going to have to make plays in the passing game to loosen up the Aggie defense, he’s probably going to have to do it, at least part of the time, in less-than-ideal down-and-distance situations.

–WR Justin Jefferson. Burrow has not gotten a lot of help from his receiving corps this season with one exception — Jefferson. If Burrow and the Tigers are going to establish the pass early on it’s probably going to have to be Jefferson who gets open, makes plays sets the tone because that’s the way it has been all season.

–LB Devin White. The Aggies’ combination of RB Trayveon Williams and dual-threat QB Kellen Mond will put stress on the Tigers linebackers. White is the Tigers’ best linebacker and the leader of their defense and he’ll have to make a lot plays to slow down the Aggies

–S Grant Delpit, like White, is a leader of the defense who has made big plays against both the run and the pass. He has pressured the passer and made stops in the running game and in pass coverage.

SERIES HISTORY: LSU leads Texas A&M 33-20-3 and has won the last seven meetings, including all six since A&M joined the SEC. The Tigers won 45-21 in Tiger Stadium last season and prevailed 54-39 in the last meeting at Kyle Field in 2016.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “I think Kansas made a great move. I can see the happiness on his face, the excitement, he’s going to do a great job there. We wish him the best.” — LSU coach Ed Orgeron on Kansas hiring his predecessor, Les Miles, as head coach.
