LSU signed graduate transfer quarterback Joe Burrow for the 2018 season, the school announced Monday.

Burrow is eligible to play in 2018 and will have two years of eligibility due to missing most of last season with a broken bone in his right hand and redshirting in 2015.

Burrow was part of Ohio State’s 2015 recruiting class and could not move ahead of J.T. Barrett on the Buckeyes’ depth chart. He was Barrett’s backup in 2016 and would have held the same role before getting hurt in 2017.

Burrow will enter a quarterback competition with sophomore Myles Brennan, junior Justin McMillan and redshirt freshman Lowell Narcisse to see who will replace Danny Etling, who was a seventh-round pick of the New England Patriots.

In 10 games at Ohio State, he completed 29-of-39 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns. His best showing was against Nebraska in 2016 when he completed 6-of-6 passes.

Burrow tweeted he was headed LSU last week by writing “Excited to be playing in Death Valley next season. Ready to get to work.”

He reportedly was also considering Cincinnati and North Carolina.
